Bernita Lynn Patterson

Bernita Lynn Patterson was born on July 9, 1954, in Nashville, Arkansas to the late Ezekiel Patterson and Juanita Davis Patterson, who preceded her in death. Bernita departed this life on September 4, 2023.  She was baptized and attended New Rocky Valley Baptist Church in Grambling, LA.
Bernita graduated from Grambling High School in 1972. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in Psychology from Grambling State University.  Bernita continued her education at Southern Illinois University- Carbondale where she received her M.A. in Counseling Psychology and later obtained her Ph.D in Counseling Psychology/Career Education. She had vast career experience with institutions and companies from around the country.  
Bernita was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Epsilon Psi Omega, Chapter Grambling. She has proudly served the organization for 50 years and received the honor of a Golden Soror Life Consecutive status.
She leaves to cherish her memories two brothers, E. Kenneth Patterson (Belinda) of Atlanta, GA and Eric B. Patterson of Grambling; a sister in law, Vanessa Patterson, Richmond, VA; and two nephews, Evan K. Patterson and Everett C. Patterson, Jr. Bernita was preceded in death by her brother, Everett C. Patterson, Sr. Bernita will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

 Graveside Service for Ms. Patterson will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Patterson's Memorial Garden (1131 Patterson Road) Kinston, NC.
