Betty Jean Williams Joyner, 86, of Kinston went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 in the peace and comfort of her home. Betty was married to the late Robert “RL” Joyner and born to this union were three children. She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Williams; her father, Earl “Buck” Williams; sisters Calena “Cokey” Strong and Irene Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Robert Leon Joyner (Pat) of Greensboro; two daughters, Cynthia Annette Slaton (Willie) of Lithonia, GA and Rita Lashaun Joyner, Ph.D. of Durham; one brother, James A. Jones (Doris) of Kinston; and two brother-in-laws, James Harper, Jr. of Stafford, VA and Morris Moye, Sr. of Farmville; along with six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandson; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Joyner will be held noon on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at St. Peter Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, Kinston, NC with interment to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. There will be a walk-through viewing from 3-6:00pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Albritton-Carraway Funeral Home. DUE TO VARIANTS OF COVID-19, MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING ARE REQUIRED AT THE FUNERAL HOME, CHURCH AND CEMETERY.
