Evelyn King

Evelyn M. King, 88, of Suitland, Maryland, the daughter of William F. King and Ollie B. King was born in Durham County, North Carolina and died in Clinton, Maryland on January 2, 2023.

Evelyn’s early education was received in Lenoir County Elementary Schools and secondary education at Adkin High School in Kinston, North Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bennett College, a Master of Arts Degree from Trinity college in Washington, DC, and additional training at George Washington University.

Evelyn was an educator whose tenure of employment included D.C. Public Schools, St. Francis Catholic Schools, and Prince George’s County Public Schools. Evelyn’s early church membership was at Savannah Free Will Baptist Church in Lenoir County. She later became a member of the Episcopal Church of Atonement in Washington, D.C.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents William and Ollie King and brother, John. She leaves a brother, William D. King (Evelyn) of Philadelphia, PA, and a host of relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Stewart Funeral Home Chapel, 4001 Benning Road, NE, Washington, DC 20019. Visitation with the family will be held at 1:00pm and the memorial service will follow at 2pm.
