Jeanette Mae Hairston Cogdell

Ms. Jeanette Mae Hairston Cogdell, 98, of 5400 Challisford Lane, Charlotte, NC, (formerly of Kinston, NC) peacefully closed her eyes into the joys of the Lord on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Novant Health Mint Hill Medical Center in Mint Hill, NC.  Funeral services for Ms. Cogdell will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 9, 2023, at St. Augustus A.M.E. Zion Church, (318 East North Street) Kinston, NC.  Interment will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park ( 4488 W. Vernon Avenue) Kinston, NC.  A Wake will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 4-6:00pm at St. Augustus A.M.E. Zion Church.  DUE TO VARIANTS OF COVID-19, MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING ARE REQUIRED AT THE CHURCH AND CEMETERY.  

Ms. Cogdell is survived by her son, Harold Cogdell, Jr, her grandson, Harrison Walker Cogdell, (Harrison's mother) Nina Michelle Beech, her stepdaughter, Andrea D. Epps, her sister-in-law, Melve Johnson, her loving nieces, Marilyn Jimette Graham, Jamelle Johnson, and Salle McSwain, her nephews, Cleo "Bucky" Johnson, and Lamar Sessoms, in addition to a host of other devoted great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. 

Services of Love, Dignity, and Care are being rendered by Albritton-Carraway Funeral Home.
