Mr. John Wesley Harper, 64, of 300 Vernon Avenue, Brooklyn, New York (formerly of Kinston) closed his eyes into eternal rest on Friday, May 23, 2025, at WoodHull Hospital in New York. Funeral services for Mr. Harper will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at post Oak Free Will Baptist Church (266 Dawson Station Road) Kinston, NC. Interment will follow in Brown Town Memorial Cemetery (1101 Browntown Crossroads) Snow Hill, NC. A walk-through viewing will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 5-6pm for Immediate Family. Public viewing will be held at 12:00 noon before the service at the church. Masks are available.
Mr. Harper is survived by his children, Ruth H. Rufus (Terrell), Kinston, NC, Shaneka Ross, of Brooklyn, NY, mother, Ida S. Kempton of Kinston, NC, 7 sisters, Greta James (Milton), Darlene Miller (Calvin), Nadine Harper, all of Kinston, NC, Angela Williams (Tarika) of Brooklyn, NY, Connie Yerby, Lena Wiggins both of Kinston, NC, Gloria Jones of Gaskins, SC, foster sister, Jackie Goodson of Brooklyn, NY, 4 brothers, Mark Kimpson (Murrell) of Brooklyn, NY, John Wiggins (Debra) of Queens, NY, Victor Williams of Orlando, FL, Scottie Williams of Macon, GA, three grandchildren, 3 very special friends of Brooklyn, NY, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
