Ms. Thelma Smith  Gooding, 73, of 1006 Clifton Terrace, Kinston, NC entered into the joys of the Lord on Saturday morning, September 9,2023, at her home. Funeral services for Ms. Thelma will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church (311 N East Street) Kinston, NC. Internment will be held at 10am on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Pinelawn Memorial Park (4488 Hwy 70 W.) Kinston, NC.  THERE WILL BE NO VIEWING. ​​

Ms. Smith is survived by her siblings, Quindearest S. Pierre of Lawton, Oklahoma, Barbara S. Sherrod, Carolyn S. Mills (Edward) both of Kinston, NC, Ercell S. Jones of Antioch, Tennessee, Donnie Mumford of Washington, DC, Dexter Mumford of Antioch, Tennessee, her  aunts, Alfreda B. Fonville of Kinston, NC, Sarah Brown of Charlotte, NC , her uncle, Charlie Brown of Wilmington, NC, her nieces, nephews, cousins, her Church Family and a host of friends. MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT THE CHURCH.
